Andy brings extensive experience in workforce development, public sector leadership, and community service to SDWP. In his role overseeing the Youth, Adult, Business Services and Research departments, Andy is responsible for the overall direction and strategy of the nearly $40M that SDWP invests annually in workforce programs and ongoing labor market research designed to close the skills gap in San Diego. Andy also oversees grant efforts to bring new programs and resources into the region. Working closely with the CEO, all staff, external stakeholders and SDWP governance, Andy helps realize SDWP’s vision that “Every business in our region has access to a skilled workforce and every job seeker has access to meaningful employment. Our community will view us as the leader for innovative workforce solutions, which add great value to our region.”
Andy has led successful efforts to bring federal and state funds to better serve the justice involved population, disconnected youth, the long term-unemployed, individuals with disabilities, and other target populations, expanding the reach, scope, and impact of SDWP programs. Andy also led the redesign of SDWP’s business services, creating a more coordinated approach to serving the region’s diverse and growing industries.
