Bill Clarke is the Director of New York State's Office for School Innovation with responsibilities for charter school authorizing and school turnaround in the state's lowest performing traditional public schools.
Prior to working at New York State Education Department, Bill worked to develop charter school authorizing for Rhode Island, led two, high-performing middle and high charter schools, taught middle school in Mississippi, and provided program direction for the American Red Cross and City Year. Bill's interest in schools serving over-aged, under-credited students is derived from his experience working with students for whom the linear path of traditional education doesn't work.
