The article cites one of the prominent researchers on dropouts and dropout recovery, Russell Rumberger, director of the California Dropout Research Project. Rumberger is one of the many experts who will be a presenter at the 5th Annual Alternative Accountability Policy Forum.
In the article he comments, "Clearly if you prevent a student from dropping out, they wouldn't need (dropout) recovery. But a lot of kids have dropped out, and I think it's really important in the larger scheme of things. Dropout recovery hasn't received enough attention or the funding it needs."
